Des exp\u00e9riences r\u00e9centes ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 des r\u00e9sultats prometteurs avec des transmissions \u00e0 haute capacit\u00e9 UWB fonctionnant \u00e0 travers les bandes S+C+L, et m\u00eame audel\u00e0. Ces avanc\u00e9es soul\u00e8vent la question de savoir si cette technologie peut \u00eatre efficacement mise \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle pour r\u00e9pondre aux demandes croissantes de trafic de donn\u00e9es. Cette th\u00e8se fournit une \u00e9tude approfondie sur les opportunit\u00e9s et les d\u00e9fis des syst\u00e8mes UWB. \u00c0 travers l\u2019analyse de mod\u00e8les qui tiennent compte des d\u00e9gradations d\u00e9pendant de la longueur d\u2019onde, le coeur de cette th\u00e8se consiste en le d\u00e9veloppement et la validation de techniques d\u2019optimisation de puissance bas\u00e9es sur ces mod\u00e8les, con\u00e7ues pour am\u00e9liorer la performance des syst\u00e8mes UWB. L\u2019\u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e comprend des \u00e9valuations num\u00e9riques et exp\u00e9rimentales des syst\u00e8mes S+C+L. De plus, la pr\u00e9cision des pr\u00e9dictions obtenues dans cette \u00e9tude offre des aper\u00e7us pr\u00e9cieux sur la qualit\u00e9 de transmission, parmi lesquels une analyse des implications associ\u00e9es \u00e0 d\u2019\u00e9ventuelles d\u00e9faillances du syst\u00e8me UWB. Enfin, cette th\u00e8se envisage une vision pour l\u2019avenir de cette technologie, discutant de la faisabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019adoption des syst\u00e8mes UWB par rapport au d\u00e9ploiement de syst\u00e8mes parall\u00e8les en fibre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultra-wideband systems (UWB) are considered a cost-effective strategy to boost the per-fiber throughput in optical communications by pushing the boundaries of operational bandwidth beyond the conventional C-band. Recent experiments have showcased promising results with UWB high-capacity transmissions operating across the S+C+L bands, and even further. These advancements raise the question of whether this technology can be effectively used to meet the growing demands for data traffic. This thesis provides an extensive investigation into the opportunities and challenges of UWB systems. Through the analysis of models that address the challenging wavelengthdependent impairments, the core of this thesis consists in the development and validation of model-based power optimization techniques designed to enhance UWB system performance. The investigation is performed in numerical and experimental assessments in S+C+L systems. Moreover, the accurate model-based predictions obtained in this study offer invaluable insights into the transmission quality. These include an analysis of the implications associated with potential UWB system failures. Finally, this thesis casts a vision for the future of this technology, discussing the feasibility of adopting UWB systems over the deployment of parallel fiber
