pr\u00e9sentent Autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter ses travaux en vue de l\u2019obtention du Doctorat de l’Universit\u00e9 Paris-Saclay, pr\u00e9par\u00e9 \u00e0 T\u00e9l\u00e9com SudParis en : Quand:<\/strong> le JEUDI 14 NOVEMBRE 2019 \u00e0 10h30<\/p>\n O\u00f9:<\/strong>A003, 9 Rue Charles Fourier, 91000 \u00c9vry<\/p>\n Membres du jury :<\/strong><\/p>\n R\u00e9sum\u00e9 :<\/strong><\/p>\n Nous pr\u00e9sentons dans cette th\u00e8se un nouveau paradigme pour caract\u00e9riser la maladie d\u2019Alzheimer \u00e0 travers l\u2019\u00e9criture manuscrite acquise sur tablette graphique. L\u2019\u00e9tat de l\u2019art est domin\u00e9 par des m\u00e9thodes qui supposent un comportement unique ou homog\u00e8ne au sein de chaque profil cognitif. Ces travaux exploitent des param\u00e8tres cin\u00e9matiques globaux, sur lesquels ils appliquent des tests statistiques ou des algorithmes de classification pour discriminer les diff\u00e9rents profils cognitifs (les patients Alzheimer, les troubles cognitifs l\u00e9gers (\u00ab Mild Cognitive impairment \u00bb : MCI) et les sujets Contr\u00f4le (HC)). Notre travail aborde ces deux limites de la litt\u00e9rature de la fa\u00e7on suivante : premi\u00e8rement au lieu de consid\u00e9rer un comportement homog\u00e8ne au sein de chaque profil cognitif ou classe (HC, MCI, ES-AD : \u00ab Early-Stage Alzheimer Disease \u00bb), nous nous sommes affranchis de cette hypoth\u00e8se (ou contrainte) forte de la litt\u00e9rature. Nous consid\u00e9rons qu\u2019il peut y avoir plusieurs comportements au sein de chaque profil cognitif. Ainsi, nous proposons un apprentissage semi-supervis\u00e9 pour trouver des groupes homog\u00e8nes de sujets et analysons l\u2019information contenue dans ces clusters ou groupes sur les profils cognitifs. Deuxi\u00e8mement, au lieu d\u2019exploiter les param\u00e8tres cin\u00e9matiques globaux (ex : vitesse moyenne, pression moyenne, etc.), nous avons d\u00e9fini deux param\u00e9trisations ou codages : une param\u00e9trisation semi-globale, puis locale en mod\u00e9lisant la dynamique compl\u00e8te de chaque param\u00e8tre. L\u2019un de nos r\u00e9sultats importants met en \u00e9vidence deux clusters majeurs qui sont d\u00e9couverts, l\u2019un domin\u00e9 par les sujets HC et MCI et l\u2019autre par les MCI et ES-AD, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant ainsi que les patients atteints de MCI ont une motricit\u00e9 fine qui est proche soit des sujets HC, soit des patients ES-AD. Notre travail montre \u00e9galement que la vitesse prise localement regroupe un ensemble riche des caract\u00e9ristiques telles que la taille, l\u2019inclinaison, la fluidit\u00e9 et la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9, et r\u00e9v\u00e8le comment ces param\u00e8tres spatiotemporels peuvent conjointement caract\u00e9riser les profils cognitifs.<\/p>\n Abstract :<\/strong><\/p>\n We present, in this thesis, a novel paradigm for assessing Alzheimer\u2019s disease by analyzing impairment of handwriting (HW) on tablets, a challenging problem that is still in its infancy. The state of the art is dominated by methods that assume a unique behavioral trend for each cognitive profile, and that extract global kinematic parameters, assessed by standard statistical tests or classification models, for discriminating the neuropathological disorders (Alzheimer\u2019s (AD), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)) from Healthy Controls (HC). Our work tackles these two major limitations as follows. First, instead of considering a unique behavioral pattern for each cognitive profile, we relax this heavy constraint by allowing the emergence of multimodal behavioral patterns. We achieve this by performing semi-supervised learning to uncover homogeneous clusters of subjects, and then we analyze how much information these clusters carry on the cognitive profiles. Second, instead of relying on global kinematic parameters, mostly consisting of their average, we refine the encoding either by a semi-global parameterization, or by modeling the full dynamics of each parameter, harnessing thereby the rich temporal information inherently characterizing online HW. Thanks to our modeling, we obtain new findings that are the first of their kind on this research field. A striking finding is revealed: two major clusters are unveiled, one dominated by HC and MCI subjects, and one by MCI and ES-AD, thus revealing that MCI patients have fine motor skills leaning towards either HC\u2019s or ES-AD\u2019s. This thesis introduces also a new finding from HW trajectories that uncovers a rich set of features simultaneously like the full velocity profile, size and slant, fluidity, and shakiness, and reveals, in a naturally explainable way, how these HW features conjointly characterize, with fine and subtle details, the cognitive profiles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" L’Ecole
