Samson  LASAULCE, Directeur de Recherche,<br \/>\nCentraleSup\u00e9lec, FRANCE<\/td>\n<td>Examinateur<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>R\u00e9sum\u00e9 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La demande en \u00e9nergie dans les r\u00e9seaux de t\u00e9l\u00e9phonie mobile augmente en raison de l\u2019\u00e9mergence de nouvelles technologies et de nouveaux services aux exigences de plus en plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es (d\u00e9bits de donn\u00e9es, d\u00e9lais, etc.). Dans ce contexte, l&rsquo;op\u00e9rateur de r\u00e9seau mobile (ORM) doit fournir d&rsquo;avantage de ressources radio et de capacit\u00e9 de traitement dans son r\u00e9seau, entra\u00eenant ainsi des co\u00fbts financiers plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s. L\u2019ORM n\u2019a pas d\u2019autre choix que de mettre en \u0153uvre des strat\u00e9gies d\u2019\u00e9conomie d\u2019\u00e9nergie sur plusieurs niveaux de son infrastructure, notamment au niveau du r\u00e9seau d\u2019acc\u00e8s radio (RAN).<br \/>\nEn parall\u00e8le, le r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique devient plus intelligent, avec de nouvelles fonctionnalit\u00e9s pour \u00e9quilibrer l&rsquo;offre et la demande en faisant varier les prix de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, permettant ainsi \u00e0 certains agr\u00e9gateurs d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie de faire partie du processus d&rsquo;approvisionnement et en signant des accords de r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la demande avec ses clients les plus important. Dans le contexte d&rsquo;un r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique intelligent et fiable, l&rsquo;ORM, qui compte des milliers de evolved NodeB (eNB) r\u00e9partis sur tout le pays, doit jouer un r\u00f4le majeur dans le r\u00e9seau en agissant en tant que consommateur potentiel capable de vendre de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Toutefois, dans les pays d&rsquo;Afrique subsaharienne, le r\u00e9seau peut ne pas \u00eatre fiable, voire m\u00eame inexistant, l&rsquo;ORM n&rsquo;a d&rsquo;autre choix que de d\u00e9ployer une centrale \u00e9lectrique virtuelle (VPP) qui l&rsquo;alimente partiellement ou totalement.<br \/>\nDans cette th\u00e8se, nous \u00e9tudions les interactions entre l\u2019op\u00e9rateur de r\u00e9seau et le r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique, qu\u2019il soit fiable ou non, dans les pays d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s comme dans les pays en cours de d\u00e9veloppement. Nous \u00e9tudions la gestion optimale de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie \u00e0 long et \u00e0 court terme, dans le but de minimiser le co\u00fbt total de possession (TCO) en \u00e9nergie de l&rsquo;op\u00e9rateur par station de base, qui correspond \u00e0 la somme de ses d\u00e9penses d&rsquo;investissement (CAPEX) et de ses d\u00e9penses op\u00e9rationnelles (OPEX), en assurant la satisfaction des besoins croissants en trafic de ses utilisateurs dans la cellule.<br \/>\nL&rsquo;\u00e9tude \u00e0 long terme nous permet de prendre des d\u00e9cisions d&rsquo;investissement semestrielles pour le dimensionnement de la batterie et des sources \u00e9nergies renouvelables, en tenant compte de la d\u00e9gradation des performances des \u00e9quipements, des pr\u00e9visions de la croissance du trafic des utilisateurs et de l&rsquo;\u00e9volution du march\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 sur une longue p\u00e9riode de temps compt\u00e9e en ann\u00e9es.<br \/>\nDans le cas o\u00f9 elle est aliment\u00e9e par un r\u00e9seau intelligent fiable, la politique \u00e0 court terme aide l\u2019op\u00e9rateur \u00e0 d\u00e9finir quotidiennement une strat\u00e9gie de gestion optimale de la batterie assurant l&rsquo;arbitrage ou \u00e0 le trading d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 tout en exploitant les fluctuations horaires des prix de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 afin de minimiser la facture \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique journali\u00e8re de l&rsquo;ORM tout en respectant certaines r\u00e8gles d&rsquo;utilisation de ces \u00e9quipements.<br \/>\nDans le cas d&rsquo;un r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique non fiable ou compl\u00e8tement inexistant, l&rsquo;op\u00e9rateur est aliment\u00e9 par des sources hybrides couplant stockage (batteries), g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs diesel, \u00e9nergie solaire et le r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique si ce dernier est op\u00e9rationnel. Ici, nous d\u00e9finissons un ordre de priorit\u00e9 fixe sur l\u2019utilisation de ces sources qui vise \u00e0 \u00e9tendre la dur\u00e9e de vie de la batterie et maintenir ses performances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The energy demand in mobile networks is increasing due to the emergence of new technologies and new services with higher requirements (data rates, delays, etc). In this context, the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) has to provide more radio and processing resources in its network leading for higher financial costs. The MNO has no choice but to implement energy saving strategies in all the parts of its infrastructure and especially at the Radio Access Network (RAN). At the same time, the electrical grid is getting smarter including new functionalities to balance supply and demand by varying the electricity prices, allowing some aggregators to be part of the supply process and signing demand response agreements with its clients. In the context of reliable smart grid, the MNO having thousands of evolved NodeB (eNB) spread over all the country, has to play major role in the grid by acting as a prosumer able to sell electricity. In African Sub-Saharan countries however, the grid may be not reliable or even non existent, the MNO has no choice but to deploy a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and rely partially or totally on it. In this thesis, we study the interactions between the network operator and the grid either reliable or not in both developed and developing countries. We investigate both long term and short term optimal energy related management, with the aim of minimising the operator&rsquo;s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for energy per base station which is the sum of its Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) while satisfying the growing needs of its user traffic in the cell. The long term study enables us to make semestral based investment decisions for the battery and renewable energy sources dimensioning considering equipment performance degradation, predictions on users traffic growth and electricity market evolution over a long period of time counted in years. In the case of being powered by a reliable smart grid, the short term policy helps the operator to set on a daily basis, an optimal battery management strategy by performing electricity arbitrage or trading that takes advantage of the electricity prices hourly fluctuations in order to minimize the MNO daily energy bill while respecting some rules on the usage of its equipments. In the case of a non reliable or off-grid environment, the operator is powered by hybrid sources coupling storage, diesel generators, solar power and the grid if the latter is operational. Here, we define a fixed order of priority on the use of these sources that extends the battery lifetime and maintain its performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L&rsquo;Ecole
